Once again December has flown by way too fast. There always seems to be at least one week missing from December which means I always have less time to do everything that needs doing. I’m happy to report that this year I actually have, miraculously, finished all of our shopping. Tick that off the list.
But the one thing that is weighing heavy is my inability to make a shopping list and meal plan for the holidays. And I have to do it, the clock is ticking. This morning I went to the market and there are big signs all over the place: Get your fish or meat orders in by December 19 or we can’t promise you anything.
No pressure.
Why am I having such a hard time this year? Because my family is coming to visit! Which is a good thing. But I’m not quite sure I remember how to cook for more than three people. You know when you wake up at 3am worrying about something that you shouldn’t be worrying about? These days it’s me trying to figure out how many kilos of fish I need to order for our first course. Help!
So let’s think of this week’s meal plan as a sort of group therapy kind of thing. Writing it will help me plan my own holiday meals and - I hope - be of some inspiration to you. Hopefully by the time I send this to you I won’t be waking up at 3am anymore.
This month’s meal plan is actually for 2 separate meals: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
