The Culture of Food in Parma
May 25-31, 2025
While delicious ingredients come from all over Italy, the region of Emilia Romagna is particularly rich. Based in Parma, we will spend six nights and five very full days diving deeply into The Culture of Food that defines this region and makes it so delicious. Each day, we will visit markets and food producers as well as eat and cook, learning about ingredients like Parmigiano Reggiano, Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena, Prosciutto di Parma, and, of course, pasta.
During this 6-day tour, we’ll have the time to truly explore the region, from a completely food-centric point of view, of course. From breakfast through dinner, we’ll travel in and around Parma: tasting, drinking, eating, cooking, learning, and having fun.
Parma is one of Italy’s most beautiful towns. You will be staying in a charming, family-owned hotel right in the center, where you will have your own room. Each day will be full while we head out to explore, but you will also have downtime on your own to explore Parma.
A few of the things we’ll be doing:
Pasta class in a professional pasta school
Cooking class and lunch in a private home
Visit to Culatello producer and tour of the estate
Farm visit to learn how Parmigiano Reggiano is made
Visit Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale producer and tasting
Visit to a Prosciutto di Parma maker with tasting
Visit to some of the most beautiful historic castles in Italy
Visit to one of the smallest wineries in the region
Pasta-filled dinners and lunches
Guided visits to Modena and Parma
And much more…

Hi Elizabeth I'm taking my first trip to Lecce this fall-do you or your readers have any suggestions for a place to stay? I've been loving your newsletter, it's chock full of fantastic information!
Dear Elizabeth, It was wonderful to see you during our visit with Ursula and Joe, and to meet
Domenico! Thank you for the lovely tea time at your home and for arranging for Leonardo to drive
us to Bevagna and Montefalco. It was such a special day. I treasure your postings and hope
that someday Richard and I might join one of your tours. We send warmest best wishes and love!
