I love a banquette but I do understand the comments saying they can be difficult for people with mobility issues. Maybe you can build one just for the wall where the window is and use chairs elsewhere or do a banquette type sofa (custom made) for that wall. It will give you more flexibility.
My grown kids make fun of me for chatting up strangers too - I said “this is how I make friends”. Traveling is great, but it’s all about the people you meet along the way which gives the travel more meaning .

On the banquette… it’s limiting for those times you want to clear a room for dancing! Or for other purposes. I’d go for cozy and comfy chairs for guests and a small sofa or two big chairs for cookbook reading, wine sipping or relaxing while the soup simmers.

This is a good point. My 90 year old parents have a banquette and neither of them sits in it, for that reason. They both sit in chairs opposite.
