I think its worth mentioning that Octavia Butler was a black woman. Few if any blacks were writing science fiction, certainly not women. She was also the first sci fi writer to get a MacArthur genius grant. No small thing.
Yup typing class was an essential class. But I almost failed sewing:)
Re the update on not charging for carryon. It will be interesting to see how that works out as there is already not enough space in the overhead compartments for what so many bring onboard.
Hi Elizabeth - my name is Lisa and I’ve sent you a couple of emails enquiring about tours in March 2027. I look forward to hearing back from you. Regards Lisa
Tomato Pie - In Newark, NJ during the 1940s, my father and I would drive to The Reservoir, an Italian restaurant in the 14th Ward. We'd go to the kitchen and order a Tomato Pie. Then we'd watch it being made. Dough was twirled in the air, then olive oil dribbled onto it, tomato sauce and mozzarella applied, and baked in a stone oven, boxed and taken home. I've eaten many pizzas over the years, but none have matched those from The Reservoir.
I am pretty sure you are talking about a different kind of tomato pie, one that is a pizza. This one is very different, more like a quiche. But yours sounds perfect!!
Heading to Sicily in the fall and would be very interested in learning more about the Aeolian Islands. The only way I have found to get there so far seems like very crowded and touristy boat trip.
I love that you, too, are a voracious reader ( I can NOT quilt, but would love to). Maybe you will have time soon to read my book? "Pinch Me: Waking Up in a 300-year-old Italian Farmhouse." On Amazon, Simon&Schuster and in bookstores....
I'm with you... A typing class I was forced to take as an elective in high school remains one of the most practical classes ever.
Seriously! Especially since mine was on an ancient manual typewriter.

No small thing at all. And I have mentioned it in past newsletters. I am a huge fan.

We'll get back to you right away. FYI: we don't have our 2027 schedule fixed yet, but we'll get back to you with options.

Back then, no one knew was pizza was, so it was called Tomato Pie. Your recipe reads like a tasty treat.
Unseasonably cool in Bergamo, too. Everyone says it’s more like October than August. (PS: I love Octavia Butler!)
I love Jose Andres ! World Kitchen is about feeding and nourishing people. Such a worthy cause.

Never ever would never give any donations to anything Andre runs
