Southern Spain coming up, with a gobe-trotting Irish cousin. We are eyeing the Via Rosa tour schedules with out daughter-in-law who introduced you to me 🤞🏻❤️

I love Umbria! Here's a very offbeat recommendation for next time you are in Perugia: Edicola518 sells printed independent magazines from all over the world. (they also have the "Hidden Umbria" travel guide 😉)

Love them! They also have opened a wine bar.

Love Sandri and Osteria a Priori! I'll have to check out some of these other spots the next time I visit Perugia. And if you haven't been to Ristorante Il Giurista yet, it's a cozy restaurant perfect for a hearty fall or winter lunch.

Elizabeth, Umbria is at the top of my wishlist so thanking you in advance for your Perugia mini list. I just got back from the NY Hudson Valley where we used a Guess Where Trip.

https://guesswheretrips.com/en-us

It was so much fun and I would definitely recommend the company. I appreciated the research and thoughtfulness that went into the trip with good recommendations, tips etc. So relaxing to not have to plan every detail myself.

Currently I am really looking forward to a trip to eastern Sicily in the fall. We are renting a car and doing some exploring. Super excited about that!!! If anyone has any recs please share!

Eastern Sicily is gorgeous! I have lots of recommendations on my blog, but also here is a list of places to eat in Ortigia https://viarosaitaly.com/guides/where-to-eat-in-ortigia/

In the 70’s I lived in Perugia and it was lovely. On occasion we would go to La Rosetta. I always had paglia e fieno co la salsa aurora. It was absolutely delicious. It was a lovely time to be in Italy.

Kelly here — I retired early to slow travel the world with my husband. I love how you framed summer as unusually long (always the best kind).

We’ve found slow travel stretches time the same way, whether we’re in Ireland, France, or Spain. And yes — choosing not to over-broaden a trip is its own art form. Greece is high on our list too, so I’ll be following your planning with interest.

Also bookmarking your Perugia guide — that’s exactly the kind of detail that makes a city come alive. Thanks for the inspiration!

Tuscany and Rome in October!

(typo in strawberry ricotta cake link above for amount of butter!) I noticed because I've made it twice this week following recipe on your site - one peach/plum and one fig/blackberry. SO GOOD!!!

Bob and I just booked a Mediterranean cruise on Viking. It starts in Rome and ends in Barcelona. My first cruise ever! We’ll definitely be spending a few days in Rome before boarding the ship.
