Early fall in Puglia is more and more like late summer these days, but without the crowds. During our tours in Puglia this past September, we were able to swim in Bari and Monopoli - it was that warm! And, of course, most of our lunches were outside, basking in the sun. In other words, September is the perfect time to visit Puglia, and we’ve just added two new tours to our schedule.

The Culture of Food in Salento & Central Puglia with Sophie
September 15-21, 2024
Fall is the perfect time to visit Salento (the southern part of Puglia) since the torrid heat of summer is past, but it’s still warm enough to go for a swim (which you’ll be able to do in Monopoli). Sophie is joined by her friend and colleague Angelo to offer this six-day feast through Puglia. You’ll be based in Lecce and Monopoli and visit some of their favorite towns (Ostuni, Gallipoli, Galatina, and Bari) to explore southern and central Puglia's food, wine, and history.
A few of the things you’ll be doing:
Welcome drinks and dinner in Lecce
Market tour, cooking class, and lunch
A day learning all about olive oil
A guided visit and lunch in a cave in Ostuni
Cheese and pasta-making class at a farm
Visit the Unesco-protected, Trulli-filled, town of Alberobello
Seafood feasts in Monopoli and Gallipoli
Visit the pasta ladies in Bari
and more

The Culture of Food in Puglia & and Basilicata (5-Day Tour)
September 30 - October 5, 2024
Sophie and our friend and colleague Angelo will host this five-day feast through Puglia. A bit shorter than our other tours, you’ll be based in Bari, Puglia’s capital and most vibrant city. You’ll be able to explore the town from a very personal perspective since this is where Domenico (Sophie’s father/my husband) is from. But you’ll also visit some of our favorite villages, including Alberobello, Monopoli, Cisternino, and Matera, in Basilicata.
A few of the things you’ll be doing:
Visit the Unesco-protected town of Matera and have lunch in a cave
Learn how to make (and eat!) the famous Spaghetti all’Assassina in Bari
Day at a family farm in the Valle d’Itria making cheese and pasta
Visit the Unesco-protected, Trulli-filled, town of Alberobello
Explore the seaside town of Monopoli
Visit Cisternino and have lunch at a butcher
and more…

Sicily, Puglia, Umbria & Parma 2024
We still have a handful of spaces left on some of our other tours to Puglia, Sicily, Umbria, and Parma in 2024:
All the lovely places! I go down to Puglia as much as I can and often think about leaving Rome for Salento....
