Today’s Newsletter launches a new series. Last month, we happily launched our new website devoted to our food tours in Italy. As promised, we have been sharing guides and stories about life here in Italy. Since you may have missed them, each month I will be sending out a roundup of recent posts. You can always visit the site to view the entire archive. We are constantly adding to it. And do let us know in the comments below if there is anything you’d like to see us cover in the future.
(These updates will go out once a month to all free subscribers)
Christmas in Rome
Up until the early 2000s, most restaurants in Rome would close for the holidays, leaving tourists wandering the city in search of something decent to eat. Thankfully, times have changed. With a bit of planning, you can enjoy some delicious meals while spending Christmas in Rome.
Venice in Winter
I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it: Venice is at its best in winter. I know summer schedules are hard to avoid, but if you’ve had a terrible time in Venice, it’s probably because you went in July! Trust me—Venice in January or February feels like a completely different city than in June or July. Here are my top three reasons to visit Venice in the off-season:
Where to Eat in Ortigia, Sicily
Ortigia is a small island that is the historic center of the city of Syracuse. It is generally considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Sicily. Inhabited for over 3000 years, its history dates back to Greek times and is a UNESCO landmark.
The island is not that big, and its small streets are lined with fun places to shop, eat, and wander. The lungomare runs around the island, along the sea, and is a nice place to walk.
There are many restaurants, but it’s good to go with a plan since many of them cater to tourists. We are happy to share our favorite places.
While it’s fun reading about Italy and planning your own trip, we hope you can join us for one of our delicious adventures next year. Visit our tour page for the full schedule.
