Please forgive the horrible quality of the photos in this post. I know you’re used to seeing beautifully lit images of my table set for lunch or dinner in front of the fire up in Umbria. I’ll include one below from another meal, just so you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. But today I thought I’d share something a bit more real. While I always set the table for lunch (even if I’m by myself) by the time dinner comes around you’re more likely to find Domenico and me on the couch eating our dinner in front of whatever we are currently watching on TV.
There. I said it. Now you know.
That’s not to say I don’t cook. I absolutely do cook. I just don’t always make the effort to A) set the table, and B) photograph every step of every recipe in the perfect lighting. But I did want to share this recipe with you, and absolutely did not want to wait until the next time I made it and had more energy to take better photos.
The inspiration for this particular rustic tart was the fact that one of my favorite producers of flour had sent me 3 kilos of his stone milled flour and I really wanted to use it. I had fantasized about making pizza or focaccia, but somehow that didn’t happen (too much planning).
