Back in my previous career, when I was writing for magazines like Architectural Digest, Robb Report, and Town & Country, I used to cover design-focused stories. I even wrote six books on interior design and architecture. Hard to believe, right? Especially since most of you now know me more for my pasta and martini skills.
Of all the design stories I covered, some of my favourites were those that explored jewelry-making. I was never drawn to high-end watches or big-brand jewels—I’ve always preferred handmade pieces and small-scale craftsmanship. That’s not to say I’m above a bit of costume jewelry (I do love that too), but I’m especially fond of pieces with soul and story.
So today, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite jewelry spots in Rome. These are the kinds of places where, if you’re in Italy and want to bring back something unique, you just might find the perfect piece.
