Since I spend so much of my time traveling all over Italy for “work,” my requirements for a true vacation are very clear. First: it cannot be in Italy. Second: it must involve almost no planning on my part.

If you had asked me a few years ago whether I would ever consider a cruise, I would have laughed out loud. Cruises were simply not my thing. Or so I thought. Then I learned that one of the best ways to experience the Norwegian Fjords was by ship, and that not all cruises are created equal. Since then, we’ve become converts. Last year it was Iceland, and last month we took our third voyage, this time to Alaska. So many of you asked for details, and I’m delighted to share.
