My first trip to Italy started in Venice, in March. On my first day, wandering the streets alone, it snowed as I was walking along the grande canal. So beautiful. Then, a cruise ship went by. I vowed then and there never to step foot on a cruise that went to Venice.
After almost 2 weeks roaming around Sicily The Lions of Sicily moved higher on my watch list (& we got to visit the palace where it was filmed this afternoon)
I thought Expats was really good. Stellar cast, filmed in Hong Kong during the pandemic and now the Chinese government will not allow it to be shown there. Really shows the city very accurately, I thought.
I had a similar reaction to her performance. The roles she is selecting lately are quite similar, but I enjoyed all of the other characters and how as the series progressed, the story lines shifted focus to those characters. And, I used to travel to Hong Kong regularly so I really liked seeing the city again.
I love the photo of your beautiful big bowl of lettuce salad. A beautiful memory of family dinners with my parents and grandparents. Very Italian style.
Understood....Anatomy of a Fall more of an intriguing mystery. Zone of Interest definitely sobering but very unique film techniques....banality of evil is the message.
I'm sorry your endless summer is ending — I wouldn't want to leave that cozy scene either! — but it sounds as though there's lots of fun ahead. Every tour sounds so dreamy! Thank you for the Pizza Night love 💕
I visited Venice last November and was one of the first guests at Violino d'Oro when it opened. Love that hotel! And November felt like the perfect time to be in Venice because there were fewer tourists but we still had warm sunny days. I would love to go in winter, though, and soak up the foggy, moody vibes.
Always, always so much fun to read your posts. Especially while I'm eating...they fortify my appetite no matter what's on my plate. So thank you, Elizabeth! xo

Thank god the cruise ships no longer pass through.
Definitely

Noted!!
You are so right about off season exploring of major cities like Venezia. Looks like it was a picture perfect break.
It was!
Do not miss and deserving of all nominations/awards, IMHO: Anatomy of a Fall and Zone of Interest. Sandra Huller, an amazing German actor is in both.
They are definitely on my watch list, but I keep putting them off since they are so 'heavy'.
The first picture with the fire look like my ideal setting.

I somehow couldn't get past how bad Nicole Kidman was. She seemed so stiff and also so much bad plastic surgery.

The Taste of Things a beautiful film
Definitely on my watch list!

Yes, we always have salad. And are so lucky when it's fresh from the garden.

Yes, November is a great time too.

Always happy to inspire appetite. ;)
Thank you for the little break from wind, rain, sleet, hail and snow. It is so very wet! I truly needed a travel break. And recipes, too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Still waiting for the sun, maybe next weekend. Brr.
Beautiful photo
